KIRAS INTO HIGHER EDUCATION
Higher education is on the threshold of transformation. No longer can it remain contented with its conventional structure; it needs to change. The winds of change are blowing all over the world. The transformation from regulation to liberalization, from protection to integration with international markets, and from central planning to free market, economics demands new thinking, new approaches and new skills to accelerate the momentum of growth and ensure success.
Students from a wide variety of social and cultural backgrounds study together in harmony at KIRAS and develop the personalities required by a global industry.
To create a dynamic environment that facilitates interaction and dialogue has always been the goal at KIRAS. The institute encourages its faculty for their continual all round growth through academic initiatives of excellence that include:-
- Quality circles - comprising faculty members and a few student representatives in every class. Periodic meetings are held to solve classroom-related issues, bring out the best in the Teachers and Students and, ultimately, enhance the teaching-learning process.
- Motivation strategies that are relevant and effective are followed. For example, there are rewards for teachers for their academic excellence and research capabilities and encouragement to departments to augment their facilities.
- Open Door Policy of the management helps ensure transparency in administration and boosts the confidence levels of the staff and students.
- Excellence in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities is encouraged among students to mould them into well-rounded personalities.
- Department Advisory Committees ensure high standards for the academic programs.
- Periodic quality inspections are conducted for effective classroom management, documentation in laboratories, and classroom teaching. The standards of question papers are also subjected to periodic review.
- Core competence areas are identified in each department, which in turn benchmarks itself with an institution of repute, and aims at becoming a Centre of Excellence.
- Availability of Proctors [faculty members in the institute], each of whom interacts with the student informally and helps in maintaining emotional and intellectual balance.
- Industry exposure is provided periodically every semester to students, in tune with the practical world.
- Visits of well-known Personalities are organized as part of student motivating strategies.
